On Wednesday evening, the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil were decided in dramatic fashion when Corinthians and Sport Recife came through the lottery of penalties.
A near capacity crowd of 62,000 fans in the estádio Morumbi saw Corinthians beat Botafogo 2×1 in normal time and send the tie to penalties.
With the score at 5×4, Felipe (photo) became the hero after he turned away Zé Carlos’ effort and put the Série B side into the Copa do Brasil finals for the fourth time in their history.
Botafogo’s exit will increase speculation that coach Cuca will make the move to the Vila Belmiro and Santos.

The team from the northeast got to the finals the hard way seeing off Palmeiras, Internacional and Vasco.
Sport’s one and only appearance in the competition was when they finished runners up to Grêmio in the first ever Copa do Brasil in 1989.
The finals will have an odd feeling about them for Sport coach, Nelsinho Baptista, as he was in charge of Corinthians when they went down at the end of last year.
