Herrera the hero

Corinthians have one hand on the Copa do Brasil after seeing off Sport Recife 3×1 in the first leg of the finals.
Pushed on by a near capacity crowd in the estádio Morumbi, Corinthians early pressure soon paid off. After Sport failed to clear their lines, Dentinho struck on the 18th minute for his 4th goal in the competition.
4 minutes later, Corinthians broke from their defence. Sport stopped momentarily expecting a free kick when Luciano Henrique went down under a challenge from Carlos Alberto. But referee Heber Roberto Lopes played on and Herrera finished off a sweeping move to double the score.
In the second period, Sport went on the offensive as Corinthians opted to try to catch the visitors on the break.
And that’s how the third goal came about. After a mediocre start at the club, Herrera is fast replacing Carlos Tevez as the Corinthian’s fans favourite Argentine.
For Corinthian’s third, Herrera did all the hard work to set up Acosta on the 75th minute mark.
Right on the stroke of full-time, Enílton pulled one back for Sport to give them a slim chance in the second leg next week in the estádio Ilha do Retiro in Recife.
Earlier in the campaign, Sport lost 1×0 away at Internacional but won the second leg 3×1. But against a defensively-minded unit such as Corinthians, Sport’s task this time round is going to be so much harder.
