August 26, 2008
With Barcelona apparently now out of the picture, São Paulo and Brazil midfielder, Hernanes, is being checked out by Atletico Madrid. The Spanish club are said to be readying an offer of around 14 million euros for the player before the transfer window closes on August 31st.
Atletico are also in the hunt for Fluminense’s Thiago Neves who was being linked with Manchester City earlier this week.
Neves is back in training with the Rio club after returning from Beijing where he was on duty with Brazil’s Olympic squad. The midfielder has a contract with Flu until 2010. But Atlético may fork out around 12 million euros for Neves. The investment group, Sonda, has a 66% stake in the player. Flu have 34%.
