Arsenal close to signing Fluminense youngster

Rio side Fluminense look like losing another exciting junior team player if Arsenal get their way. Wellington Silva Sanches Aguiar is an attacking midfielder who can operate as a forward and was on trial at the london club in December.
The player has already appeared for Brazil at Under 15, 16 and 17 year-old levels but has not signed professional papers with Fluminense.
Wellington was spotted by Flu when he was playing for local rivals, América. Very little is known of midfielder in Brazil. But as a 16-year-old, the teenager did impress in Brazil’s most prestigious junior competition, the Copa São Paulo.

Does anyone know anything about him except that he scored 2 goals for Arsenal in a friendly against Norwich?
2. Mr B | April 20, 2009 at 17:44
Yes.
He scored four goals for Aresenal in a freindly against norwich.
Well I did try to help.

Franny I’ve found this link (Brazilian but translated) with some info on him.
He sounds very promising.

You sure Mr B? I heard Afobe scored 2 and he scored 2…

Yep.
I got this from FourFour Two sight.
However, Arsenal appear to be in pole position to nail his signature, with the talented forward having impressed during a seven-day trial with the Gunners in December, in which he scored four times in an 8-4 win against Norwich U16s.

fala Diego!
here’s a very rough translation of what he said
this guy is a very good player. he deserves a place at Arsenal. he’s a ‘number ten’ [this has a special meaning in Brazil - Pelé, Zico, Rivelino, .... all used this]. buy him soon because he’s going to be a star that will shine for many years and even decades to come.

I tell you what Arsenal need like a hole in the head…a ‘brilliant in five years flashy No. 10′.
Now, if there are any ‘new Lucio’ types going for a million or two…

He looks a good talent, as does his compatriot Zezinho.
Taison, Maor Buzaglo and Shinji Kagawa would be nice also.

I think it’s a bit unfair to call 17 year old Wellington Silva a “Flop”
Muricy is building a new team admittedly with old players. So what would be the point of playing and relying on Silva when he knows he’s off to Arsenal when he turns 18. He has the experience of Fred,Washington and Emerson ahead of him.
Let’s see what Arsene Wenger can make of the lad after he’s beefed him up a bit and had a couple of years of getting used to the rough and tumble the English game..then you can better judge.
