São Paulo Futebol Clube have laughed off rumours linking centreback Miranda with Tottenham Hotspur.
On Thursday, British newspaper, The Daily Mail, reported that Spurs were set to offer £7 million for the defender.
Today, São Paulo’s director of football, João Paulo de Jesus Lopes, said that the club have had had no contact whatsoever with the EPL side. He also added that the offer was ludicrous as Miranda has a buyout clause in his contract twice that amount.
“We’ve heard nothing. Not an offer or an enquiry. I think it’s strange that this came up now the [transfer] window is closed and it doesn’t make sense. This value is ridiculous. If anyone comes here with this offer, they will have wasted their trip” said the director.

There is no foundation to this rumour unless it’s Miranda’s agent trying to stimulate interest in the player from European clubs.
Someone should tell him that unless Miranda has European either Spanish, Italian or German ancestry and therefore qualifies for an EU passport, he would not get the required work visa to play in Europe. Of course, there is always the possibility that an Spanish, Portuguese or Italian club could invent ancestry for him if they think he’s good enough.

The title of this article is misleading. This is NOT Tottenham’s valuation of the Miranda, but some journalists or agents trying to get some cheap publicity.
There is nothing to suggest that Tottenham are interested and no confirmation from anyone at the club, so this is a complete non story, made up by someone in the media.

FIRSTLY WITH KINDNESS WHO IS THE GUY SECONDLY WITH THOUGHTFULNESS AND FAIRNESS HOW CAN A NOBODY FOOTBALLER HAVE A CONTRACT CLAUSE THAT IS WORTH TWICE THE AMOUNT THAT SPURS SUPPOSINGLY HAVE OFFERED , THIS GUY HAS COME TO THE FORE OF LATELEY PLAYED A FEW NOTICABLE GAMES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN HE IS A STAR , THIS SMELLS JUST LIKE AN AGENTS JUMPED UP MESSY IDEA THAT ALL AND EVERY FOOTBALL TEAM DIRECTORS AND FANS AND ANYONE WHO WATCHES THE GAME HAS KNOWN FROM DAYS OF YORN , THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE ON A RADAR LIST OR SOME SORT OF UNDISIREABLE LIST KNOW AS THE ARTUR DALEY`S OF FOOTBALL WHO ARE NEVER TO BE TRUSTED !

In fairness, the comments above are correct– there are so many stories of EPL clubs supposedly having an interest in a Brazilian player but there’s rarely any truth behind them. The source may or may not be a player’s agent but a lot of the rumours start in the British tabloids who have to fill their sites/pages with something when things get a little quiet. The problem is that most football sites/blogs feel obliged to write something about the rumour just in case it turns out to be true.
As far as Miranda goes, he’s not a bad player and has been very consistent over the past three seasons at São Paulo. and while he may not a name in Europe, he has a good reputation in South America.
Of course, the Morumbi club want to inflate his price but they would listen to any decent offer that came in for him.
Whether he’s Premier League material is another matter. But I have seen a lot of him over the past three years and I think he’d do ok once he adjusted to the pace of the game in England.

As a São Paulo fan I can say that the truth is São Paulo doesn’t need to sell Miranda, São Paulo is the best structured team in the Americas probably the only Brazilian team that does’nt have financial, well, he is on the national team, meaning he gets more media exposure, in my opinion as fan, this rumor has no foundation.
