Kaká and Robinho in good spirits before the Italy game
Exactly 39 years ago, Brazil beat Italy 4-1 in the World Cup final in México. Italy got their revenge 12 years later. But then in 1994 Brazil put one over the Europeans once again in the USA. The last time they met was February this year, when Brazil saw off the Italians 2-0 in a friendly in London.
Today, Brazil are highly confident of gaining a place in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup at the expense of Italy. Dunga’s men are on six points – a draw would guarantee Brazil first place in the Group and a playoff match with South Africa. The South Americans can afford to lose 1-0 and still qualify for the semis. Italy have the tough task of trying to win by two clear goals in order to progress to the next phase.
Brazil (probable) Julio César, Maicon (Daniel Alves), Lúcio, Juan, Kleber; Gilberto Silva, Felipe Melo, Elano, Kaká, Robinho, Luís Fabiano

When will Dunga realize that Kleber is not cut out for the wing back position? The exclusion of Maxwell and Filipe are criminal in my opinion. Gilberto Silva should be shelved permanently.
II think it will be a 2-0 win though. The Italians need to attack and Dunga’s counterattack/set piece based strategy should be enough to take it comfortably.

Totally agree Gordon, its a bit worrying that the confeds cup is seen as a good chance to try some players and for me hes not made all the right ones.I live in england and following the premiership, fabio aurelio is much more solid or why not give the man united twins there first caps.kleber has no future in the selecao. And for g.silva hes been a great servant but is playing in the greek league a high enough standard. Buffon needs shutting up!

G Silva is not Emerson (who looks old). He may have some years on him but he still is a very good holding mid. He plays that role well. It doesn’t matter what league you play in. What matters is your ability and how well you fit into the team. Dunga is never going to get a fair shake no matter what he does. But Brazil has dismantled Italy twice in a row now under Dunga. That’s not an easy thing to do. He has gotten these guys to perform very well. They moved the ball very well today. They made some mistakes but Italy couldn’t make them pay. On the counter they got a little selfish at times (Robinho) and didn’t make the right decisions or it could have been 5 or 6-0.
