Arsenal sign Wellington Silva

The Gunners have picked up Fluminense’s 16-year-old forward, Wellington Silva. The teenager has been signed for around £3.5 million. The Brazil Under 17 player is expected to join the London club in 2011 when he turns 18.
Arsenal have apparently stumped up 65% of the transfer fee and will pay the rest when he finally checks in at the club.
Silva is considered to be the ‘jewel’ in Flu’s youth teams but like so many Brazilian wunderkinds; it is far from uncertain whether the player will fulfil his potential. Arsene Wenger does have an eye for talent when it comes to youngsters. A few seasons ago, the Arsenal coach spotted Denílson at São Paulo. Now the Brazilian is arguably one of the Gunner’s best midfielders. Denílson, though, did have some limited first team experience when Arsenal signed him.

there does seem to be some confusion because of the number of Wellingtons playing in Brazil but i’m fairly sure the photo is correct.
check out these sites: the first one is from a Fluminense blog so i don’t think they’d get it wrong. the other is from Globo esporte (my source)
