Silva’s return could pave way for Miranda’s move to Manchester United or Tottenham

Centreback, Alex Silva, has rejoined São Paulo after just 18 months with Hamburg. After showing promise with the Morumbi club between 2006 and 2008, the lanky defender made a move to the Bundesliga outfit for €13 million. Silva, though, had a disappointing spell in Germany and is happy to be returning to Brazil.
But with the arrival of the 24-year-old, São Paulo now have seven central defenders on their books. Two of these, André Luís and Xandão, were picked up earlier this season from Barueri and the signing of yet another centreback sends out the signal that São Paulo could be ready to cash in on Miranda.
The Brazil man has been linked with moves to both Tottenham and Manchester United in recent months. The defensive situation at United remains unclear as Nemanja Vidic is rumoured to be on his way out of the club.
Miranda is almost certainly to be part of Dunga’s squad for South Africa but has made no secret of his desire to make a move back to Europe in this current transfer window.
