English giants, Arsenal, are expected to ask Fluminense to release Wellington Silva for a four-week training period. The forward has already signed for the Gunners and will be joining them in January 2011 when he turns 18. But Arsenal believe the teenager will benefit from that a short stint with the club this year before he makes a permanent move.
Silva has not had a great season at Flu. and since the arrival of new coach Muricy Ramalho, now finds himself well down the picking order at the Laranjeiras side.
The Brazilian has already spent a short period with Arsenal and Fluminense have promised they won’t stand in the player’s way. “It’s in the contract. We cannot do anything. I have not received a request but there’s no problem”, said vice president of football, Alcides Antunes.
Silva was made part of the first team at Flu in February and has played 14 games and scoring just one goal.
