Offers are coming in for Neymar but Santos are keen to keep him

Santos have turned down an official bid from Chelsea for the highly-coveted, Neymar. The Brazilian club did not reveal the exact offer but it is thought to be in the region of €20 million (£16.8 million). The bid for the 18-year-old came on Tuesday morning but Santos say that they will not listen to offers that fall below their valuation of the player, which is a staggering €35 million (£29.7 million).

Jon, I thought domestic brazilian football was in a bad way financially, to be honest west ham and chelsea’s offers seem like decent one’s. Can santos afford to hold out for a bid that may never come? Cheers

the bid will come. on his day, Neymar’s one of the most exciting players in the world. of course, there are many areas where he needs to improve but he’s got the skill and the self-belief needed to play at the highest levels. Santos know what they’ve got and are right to hang on for an offer closer to their valuation.

It will be very hard to keep Neymar this year. Santos made a smart move to raise the offer, but Neymar’s head is already in the top European teams and won’t accept to wait too much longer given the high salary.
