São Paulo’s teenage sensation, Lucas Moura, has renewed his contract with the Morumbi club. The new deal runs until December 2012 and Lucas is expected to earn around €50,000 per month – an increase of around tenfold on his current wage. São Paulo have also written in a buyout clause of €80 million (£67 million), which dwarfs that of Santos pair Neymar (€45 million) and Paulo Henrique Ganso (€50 million).
Moura had an excellent campaign with Brazil’s Under20s in the South America qualifiers in Peru earlier this month scoring four times.

I’m enjoying the fact that some of the Brazilian teams are trying their best to hold on to their talent for a little bit longer at the moment. There was a time when they would be out the door as soon as an offer came in. Do you think this is because there is a bit more wealth in the Brazilian game at the moment?

Hi Jon, is it true Liverpool have first option on him? How do you think he would cope in the premier league if he did move?

Hi James. i’ve see that there’s a lot of traffic from Liverpool fans looking at Lucas. but i’ve seen absolutely nothing here in Brazil connecting him with Liverpool – his pace and ability will serve him well in the EPL if he does make that move
