Tottenham shut door on Bruno Uvini

Centreback Bruno Uvini’s days at Spurs appear to be over after the London club failed to deposit £2.9 million in São Paulo’s bank account. Tottenham had been given until today to decide whether to take out their option on the 20-year-old but have apparently decided not to pursue the youngster. Uvini has just spent three months on trial at Tottenham but returned to Brazil two weeks ago. The centreback is currently with Brazil’s squad for their remaining friendlies with Mexico and Argentina. The player is now expected to see out his contract at São Paulo which runs to 2014.

He wasn’t eligible to play any competitive matches when we signed him on loan in March. He’s highly rated in Brazil. U20 captain. Jus cos uv not heard of or seen him doesnt mean he’s “pants”.

It.s a pity such an extraordinary player’s career ended this way. Being a good footballer is one thing and handling fame another. Some people are not good at both.
