Porto Alegre newspaper, Zero Hora, have reported that representatives of Manchester United held talks with Brazil striker Leandro Damião on Monday. The player is in São Paulo to team up with the Brazil squad before their friendlies against South Africa and China. The meeting, which is said to have included United directors and players agents, is said to have been held at a private aircraft hangar at Congonhas airport in São Paulo.
Last week, Internacional turned down an offer from Tottenham that was rumoured to be around the £20 million mark. With the European transfer window now closed, any move to United would not happen until January 2013 at the earliest.
Damião has a contract with Internacional until June 2016 with a buyout clause of around £39.5 million (€50 million).
