Leão set for the chop

Another round and another defeat for Emerson Leão’s Santos. Tonight (24th Jan) they went down to 3×1 away at Juventus. Leão was already under pressure after Santos’ lost their opener last Wednesday vs Portuguesa. But the coach is not entirely to blame for the Vila Belmiro side’s failure this season. Santos are the only big team in São Paulo not to make any major signings. Previous incumbent, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, obviously saw the writing on the wall and did a runner to Palmeiras.

Dizem que o Luxa deixa terra arrasada por onde passa.
Em 2002 ele deixou o Palmeiras e o time caiu.
Será que agora é a vez do Santos?
    Abs, Marcos

    a very rough translation

They say that Vanderlei Luxemburgo leaves a trail of destruction in his wake
in 2002, he left Palmeiras and they were relegated.
will it be Santos’ turn this time?
