Is Valdivia set to become Brazil’s pantomime villain?

Another round of the Paulista, and another example of outrageous chicanery from Palmeiras man, Valdívia. On Saturday evening, the midfielder was up to mischief again after he bounced off defender André Turato to ‘earn’ Palmeiras a penalty against Mirassol. The player, who picked up a reputation for diving last season, has been at the centre of controversy in all three of Palmeiras’ four outings in their current campaign. And his unpopularity outside the Palestra Itália is now intensifying. Valdívia claims that he is singled out for special attention by the referees in Brazil. With antics like these he deserves to be!
