Campeonato Paulista: Ponte and São Paulo in the playoffs

Ponte celebrate in the VilaThe group stage of the Campeonato Paulista came to a dramatic end this weekend when the final two places in the semis were snapped up.


São Paulo made easy work of Juventus who were relegated.


But Ponte Preta almost blew it after they drew with Santos in the Vila Belmiro (photo).


Fortunately for the Campinas side, Corinthians failed to take advantage and lost at Noroeste.


Guaratingatá held on to keep top slot and now have the advantage of not having to win a game in the playoffs.


At the wrong end of the table, Guarani escaped the drop with a win over Rio Preto who crashed into Série A2.


Sertãozinho also joined them.


The semifinals get underway next weekend and line up like this:


Guaratingatá will face Ponte Preta and Palmeiras take on São Paulo
