Santos scrape into next phase of Libertadores

The boys from the Vila Belmiro had to come from behind to secure their passage out of the group stage of the Libertadores.

Colombia’s Cúcuta had already qualified for the last 16 but that didn’t stop them taking the lead with a terrific free kick from Henry. Santos responded through Kléber Pereira but the crucial winner didn’t come until 43 minutes into the second-half when Argentine, Trípodi, slammed home his first goal for the club. See the best moments here.

Fellow Brazilians Cruzeiro were also in action. The Belo Horizonte side had already booked their place but questions will be asked about the 5×1 thumping they suffered at the hands of Bolivia’s Real Potosi.

Rio’s Fluminense take on Ecuador’s LDU Quito on Thursday.
