Spartak Moscow close in on Rafael Carioca

Russian side Spartak Moscow have offered around 7.5 million euros for Grêmio’s defensive midfielder Rafael Carioca.

The player is a Grêmio youth product and has made 42 appearances for the club. Carioca played a prominent part in the Porto Alegre’s second place finish in the league this year.

    In my opinion, Rafael Carioca is definetely not making a good choice, by taking the first offer he got. By playing in Russia, he’s probably getting out of the spotlights.

    That’s basically the same mistake Rafael Sobis did, when he decided to go from Internacional to Real Betis, instead of waiting a little longer for an offer from an european first range club.

    I wonder how many of these Brazilians who sign for Russian/Ukrainian teams get to visit their new ‘home’ before they sign the dotted line? There was an interview with Elano where he spoke about ‘crying every day’ to get away from the cold.
