A disconsolate Grêmio in Porto Alegre

On Wednesday, Grêmio and Cruzeiro failed to win their matches in the Libertadores vs Universidad de Chile and Desportivo Quito respectively.

In their first match in the Libertadores, Grêmio could only manage a 0-0 draw at home in the estádio Olímpico and were met with a mixture of boos and applause when they left the pitch after the final whistle. See the highlights

Cruzeiro will also feel they dropped points away in Ecuador. The highly-rated Ramires had given the Brazilians the lead in the first-half. But Desportivo equalised in stoppage time through Caicedo. Once again the Belo Horizonte club had players sent off. This time wellington Paulista and Fabrício got their marching orders.
