Rio de Janeiro club, Botafogo, are pressing FIFA to recognize their part in the early development of Manchester United’s brothers Rafael and Fábio.
The pair were never part of Botafogo’s first team squad but belonged to the club’s Futsal side until they were 12-years-old. Both players then joined neighbours Fluminense before signing for the English club when they turned 18.

“Last year, we had a meeting and these cases were studied by our legal department and a lawyer who specializes in international issues [such as this]. We sent documents to FIFA showing that the twins played for Botafogo until they were 12”, said Luis Fernando Rodrigues, who was director of amateur football at the club in 2008.
Botafogo have recently received around €155,000 for their part in the development of Fellipe Bastos who is now with Benfica.

where can they get money from? manchester gave flu only a little bit of cash for them when they bought them. i dunno where botafogo thinks they will get paid. manchester stole the lads from brasil for cheap so there is not much of a transfer fee to be shared.
