Manchester United snap up Dodô

According to reports in the Brazilian press, Corinthians leftback, Dodô, has joined Manchester United for around €6 million.

The player, whose real name is José Rodolfo Pires Ribeiro, has still not made a senior appearance for the São Paulo side but has recently helped Brazil’s Under 17s become South America champions.

Dodo will not be available to play for the EPL club until February 2010 when he turns 18. To help the teenager acclimatize to England, the defender is expected to travel to England every three months where he will train with Manchester United for two weeks before returning to the Corinthians junior team.

Football Management Group, Traffic, who seem to have a finger in every Brazilian pie nowadays, will get 50% of the transfer fee.

They already have Fabio on left back position. I wonder why they still need Dodo??

Yes, they have Fabio at left-back… who himself is going to struggle for game-time behind Patrice Evra atleast for a few years… but Alex Ferguson is going to look to mould Dodo into a skilful CENTRE-BACK so he has options once Rio Ferdinand retires and Vidic ages. Jonny Evans and Rodolfo are a potential future central defensive pairing…
