Brazil squad for Scotland 27 March 2011 includes Liverpool’s Lucas, Chelsea’s Ramires & Luiz, & Tottenham’s Ranieri

Lúcio, Maico and Elano back in the fold for the Scotland game
Brazil coach Mano Menezes has called up 23 players for the international friendly against Scotland on March 27th in Arsenal’s Emirates stadium.
Three players that appeared for Brazil in last year’s World Cup make a return as Menezes opts for experience with Maicon, Lúcio and Elano. New faces include: São Paulo’s Lucas Moura who was outstanding for Brazil’s U20s in Peru last month, Cruzeiro’s Henrique and Valencia’s new forward, Jonas.
But for the first time since Mano Menezes took charge, AC Milan’s Robinho has been dropped. There are no places for Kaká, Ronaldinho Gaúcho or Hernanes. Santos’ Paulo Henrique Ganso is still coming back from an injury that kept him out of action for six months.
Brazil will go into this one on the back of 1-0 defeats to Argentina and France. Until now coach Menezes has enjoyed popular support largely but a loss against Scotland and the ripples of discontent will start to grow.

Goalkeepers: Jefferson (Botafogo), Julio César (Inter Milan), Victor (Grêmio)
Wingbacks: Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Maicon (Inter Milan), André Santos (Fenerbahçe), Marcelo (Real Madrid)
Central defenders: Thiago Silva (Milan), David Luiz (Chelsea), Luisão (Benfica),
Lúcio (Inter Milan)
Defensive midfielders: Lucas (Liverpool), Ramires (Chelsea), Sandro (Tottenham),
Henrique (Cruzeiro)
Creative midfielders: Elias (Atlético Madrid), Elano (Santos), Renato Augusto (Bayer Leverkusen), Jadson (Shakhtar Donetsk), Lucas Moura (São Paulo)
Forwards: Alexandre Pato (Milan), Nilmar (Villarreal), Neymar (Santos), Jonas (Valencia)
Squad updates: Alessandre Pato and Nilmar are doubtful. Internacional’s Leandro Damião called up as a replacement. the 21-year-old has scored 13 times for Inter this year

Good to see Lucio, Maicon and Elano back as those three all will make Brazil a better team for the Copa America. I think these last two losses is what prompted Mano Menezes to call in the “calvary.” I also am pleased to see Cruzeiro’s Henrique get selected as he is a good holding midfielder. Young Lucas of Sao Paulo is an interetsing selection too. Overall a strong side and it will be interesting to see how this group will function together.

What in the staff is doing Andre (excess weight) Santos ?
I cannot understand Mano attachment to him, was one of the worst players in Paris. Why Mano isn’t letting play better Marcelo or Bastos on this position ?

Jon, I am totally disappointed with this selection. WTF!?
Goalies: I happy with Julio Cesar and Victor. I think no matter how excellent is Diego Alves he will never get call up from Mano.
CB: David Luiz and Thiago Silva is our undisputed defense partnership in future. The inclusion of Lucio will be great help. Lucio experience will definitely make David and Thiago combo perfect. I really hope the call up of Luiz Gustavo. Cause he can play as DM, CB and LB.
RB: The best RB of the world is back!!!
LB: I am ok with Marcelo. But why still Andre Santos!? Why don’t give a chance to Maxwell and Adriano?? They are doing pretty well in Barcelona lately. Filipe Luiz is not doing so well at Atletico Madrid his exclusion is understandable. But Filipe fate will be same like Diego Alves. No matter how excellent he is Mano will never give a shit.
DM: Mano still fancy his not working Lucas-Ramires-Elias trio. I have no idea of this Henrique lad (Cruzeiro). Sandro is great. But why not Luiz Gustavo!? Sigh…….
AM: No Robinho!? I suspect there was drift between Robinho and Mano in last French friendly match. He was so pissed off when get substituted. Welcome back Elano. Lucas Moura called up is a surprise one. But I think Douglas Costa derserve a spot here. Because he and Jadson will form a great attack partnership. No comment on Renato, I just don’t think he derserved it.
Forwards: No Hulk!? I totally cannot understand what is wrong with Hulk? He is best and most consistent striker of the world at the moment. He has the physical strength like Luis Fabiano and excellent long shoot ability.
I hope Brazil lost this friendly match and Mano get fired. Please don’t get me worng. I rather Brazil lost now then we lost in the important match like Copa and world cup. I really started to miss Dunga. At least we can clearly read the intention of his selection.

Robinho is too disappointing lately and does not inspire much confidence. Ramires is too inconsistent for me when not playing with Chelsea. Elano is the top player in top form right now, in fact I expect Santos victories in the Libertadores.

how this guy gets into the squad everytime ill never know, scott parker can’t get into the england side and destroyed Lucas last week.
Hernanes,Hulk,maxwell are missing for me…….
theres enough talent in the side to beat scotland,and im going so lets hope they put a show on!

lucas and remierez why? thats a waste lucas no good remierez very inconsistent even pato is a joke fast and foolish no skills mediocre playeri would start nilmar eny day over all these idiots douglas costa needs to get called up nilmar score goals out of nothing brazil only needs to play one defensive midfielder and they need to find a very good one soon pato is overrated .

Please Mr.Menezes, I think you need to recall players like Philipe Melo and Michel Bastos instead of Lucio and Maicon.The are very skillful talented;in the case of Philipe Melo I think you just need to advice him for his temperament,he a good player.
Please consider my advice you would see the outcome.

I am a die-hard Brazilian fan from Sierra Leone,West Africa.My concern is the status of Kaka into the Brazilian line.For coach Menezez career to be a successful one,he needs to incorporate Kaka into his team,because Kaka is talented and inspirational.Really, our team lacks inspirational player like Kaka,he needs a call.

what are you going on about kaka has hardly featured for real madrid this season, how could he be included.
After the last disaster of a world cup mano menez has to look to the youth and future of brasil, and fair play to him thats what hes doing.
if the senior players want the yellow jerseys then they have to some passion and desire.

THANK GOODNESS NO ROBINHO. I THINK HE SHOULD GET DOUGLAS COSTA IN. OB THE LAD SLIPPED UNDER THE RADAR IN BRAZIL AND MUCH LIKE RONALDO HAS BEEN OVERLOOKED (AS WAS RONALDO WHEN PLAYING FOR PSV). HES MUCH BETTER THAN NEYMAR AND ROBINHO AND THE WHOLE LOT OF THEM PUT TOGETHER, NOT JUST IN FOOTBALL BUT ALSO IN HUMBLESNESS.

Where on earth is Douglas coasta and Luis Gustavo. Dunga was an architect of his own downfall because of the team he selected. Mano should be very careful because the problem with Brazil is that there’s just too much players to choose from and if you don’t know the truly world class ones it can cost you your job. He should be very extremely careful cos anything short of victory at the copa America will be a disaster even if their rival will be hosting. I just pray Ganso comes back stronger before the competition. He needs Ganso more than Kaka because of his rebuilding programme.

If coach don’t have magical touch than no point let him stay because brasil players have everything and they need feeling as team and guides from coach do it before too late
