Night of glory for Fluminense

Rio de Janeiro’s Fluminense are in the finals of the Libertadores for the first time in their history after they beat Argentina’s Boca Juniors 3×1 in the estádio Maracanã.
Goals from Dario Conca, Washington and Dodô earned Flu a meeting with Ecuador’s LDU with the first leg to be played 25th June.
2×2 from the first game in Buenos Aires, the outcome of this tie was decided in the second-half on Wednesday.
13 minutes in, Dátolo produced some fine work on the left flank to bamboozle Ygor. The cross found Palermo who headed past Fernando Henrique.
The goal was set to put Boca into the finals. But minutes later, Washington fired home a fabulous free kick and Flu were back in it.
Things got even better for the Rio side when their Argentine player, Dario Conca, saw his shot deflect off the unfortunate Ibarra to leave Migliore stranded in the Boca goal.
Then in stoppage time, Dodô pounced on a defensive error, curled the ball in, and Flu were in finals.

Of course as a big supporter of Argentina, my hope was to see Boca in the final.
But in the end, the best team won and I won’t argue about that.
You got a great blog and please keep up the good work.
Good luck to the Flu army in the final.
But my support will go to the underdogs of Quito, LDU.
