Paulinho and Elias celebrate for Corinthians

The Campeonato Brasileiro may have swung Corinthians’ way after a very good few days for the Musketeers. Last Wednesday, the São Paulo side beat then leaders Fluminense in the Engenhão. This weekend, Corinthians hammered bottom club Grêmio Prudente 3-0 and moved on to 44 points. See the goals.
In an exciting match in Rio, Flu were held 3-3 by Flamengo. Corinthians now have a two point advantage over their title rivals plus a game in hand (against Vasco). Current league champions, Flamengo, are now just two places above the drop zone. See the Fla-Flu goals here

Cruzeiro were looking for their sixth win in a row and could have gone second had they beaten Botafogo. Cuca’s men, though, had to settle for a point after drawing 2-2 at the Engenhão. Botafogo dropped to 5th.

Internacional moved to 4th on 38 points after seeing off Vasco 1-0. Inter also have a game in hand (against Santos).

São Paulo pulled off a 2-0 win over archenemies Palmeiras in the Pacaembu. Coach Luis Felipe Scolari was sent off for the second time since his return to the Palestra Itália club and the result left Palmeiras sliding towards the bottom four. See the goals

The teams in the relegation zone are Atlético Mineiro, Goiás, Atlético Goianiense and Grêmio Prudente.
